Albumin

The Albumin test measures the level of albumin, a major protein produced by the liver, in the blood. Albumin helps maintain proper osmotic pressure, keeping fluid from leaking out of blood vessels, and serves as a carrier for hormones, vitamins, and drugs. Low albumin levels may indicate liver or kidney disease, malnutrition, or chronic inflammation.
