The Vitamin B2 test measures the amount of riboflavin in the blood. Riboflavin is a water-soluble vitamin essential for energy production, metabolism of fats, drugs, and steroids, and maintenance of healthy skin and eyes. Since the body cannot store large amounts of riboflavin, a continuous dietary intake is necessary. Deficiency may lead to ariboflavinosis, characterized by sore throat, skin disorders, and anemia.
