Iron

The Iron test measures the amount of iron circulating in the blood. Iron is an essential mineral used to produce hemoglobin — the protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen throughout the body. Abnormal iron levels may indicate anemia, iron overload (hemochromatosis), or other metabolic disorders affecting iron absorption or utilization.
