The Total Protein test measures the combined amount of albumin and globulin in the blood. These proteins are essential for building and repairing tissues, transporting nutrients and hormones, and maintaining osmotic pressure in the bloodstream. Abnormal protein levels may indicate liver disease, kidney disease, malnutrition, or other systemic disorders.
